How Far Is That? is a free map utility. We aim to be transparent about what data is collected and how it is used.
Analytics
We use Umami (opens in new tab) for anonymous, aggregated analytics. Umami does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not collect personally identifiable information.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense (opens in new tab) to display ads. If you consent to cookies, Google may use cookies and similar technologies to personalize ads based on your interests and browsing activity.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time via Google's Ad Settings (opens in new tab) or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out (opens in new tab). See Google's Privacy Policy (opens in new tab) for full details.
Cookies
This site uses cookies only if you consent. If you accept cookies, Google AdSense may set advertising cookies on your device. If you decline, no advertising cookies are set. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.
Our own analytics (Umami) does not use cookies regardless of your choice.
Location data
If you choose to share your location, it is used only within your browser session to center the map and set a starting point. Your coordinates are never sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
Third-party map services
- Photon by Komoot — powers location search. Search queries and your approximate map center are sent to Komoot's servers. See Komoot's privacy policy (opens in new tab).
- OpenStreetMap — provides map tiles. Your IP address is visible to OSM's tile servers. See OSM's privacy policy (opens in new tab).
Children
This site is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
