How Far Is That? is a free map utility. We built it to be as privacy-respecting as possible — no sign-up, no cookies, and no personal data stored on our servers.
Analytics
We use Umami (opens in new tab) for anonymous, aggregated analytics. Umami does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not collect any personally identifiable information. Data is not shared with third parties.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of any kind.
Location data
If you choose to share your location, it is used only within your browser session to center the map and set a starting point. Your coordinates are never sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
Third-party map services
- Photon by Komoot — powers location search. Search queries and your approximate map center are sent to Komoot's servers. See Komoot's privacy policy (opens in new tab).
- OpenStreetMap — provides map tiles. Your IP address is visible to OSM's tile servers as part of normal web requests. See OSM's privacy policy (opens in new tab).
Children
This site is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
